About

Hello. I'm Monika. I am a Nottingham based writer, storyteller and theatre practitioner-writing and producing theatrical events for children, community spaces and schools. Alongside my writing for families, I devise and deliver interactive storytelling performances, workshops and follow up resource packs for educational settings and   Communities.

I started writing for stage in 2006, whilst I was still teaching Drama full time. Since then, I have had plays performed at theatres and festivals across the Midlands. My children's shows have been performed at large scale family events, corporate events, theatres and community spaces.

I have over 17 years experience in teaching and delivering Drama based sessions and I offer storytelling, writing and drama workshops across the Midlands (and virtually across the UK).

Creating an interactive, accessible space for children to explore, engage, write and create is my vision- empowering young people to find and use their voice, however that may be.

Alongside being a freelance theatre writer and maker I run 'Super Sparkle'-a children's event company and create interactive children's theatre under our company name 'Super Sparkle Tales'. In 2021 we added 'Sparkle Mouse Drama' to the company-our early years drama provider-creating magical and accessible theatrical experiences for early years children.

Sparkle Mouse, as a character, has become much loved amongst pre-schoolers in the Midlands and we regularly take Sparkle Mouse story sessions into settings. This year we begin our newest project-'Sparkle Mouse a BIG adventure'-an early years performance!

I am a mum to three children myself and most recently have worked in collaboration with Derby Theatre and Take Art as an early years artist in residence and with The Curve Theatre as freelance practitioner.

In 2023 I was commissioned by the Nottingham playhouse to write Hansel and Gretel for the Christmas studio show and commissioned by Junction Arts in collaboration with two other artists to create an interactive musical installation and show.

I am a qualified Drama teacher, LAMDA speech and drama educator, Arts Award advisor, hold a current DBS and my companies hold full PLI.
